Inas Al-soqi

Artist and Curator New York

A dreamer composing her story through collage, paint and printmaking.

Inas Al-soqi (Brasov, RO 1987) Half Palestinian and half Romanian, Al-soqi’s work draws upon the cultural diversity she encounters on her trips around the world, as well as her own diverse background. Al-soqi is a visual artist working with hand-cut collage, printmaking, drawing and painting. In her collage work she plays with the dichotomy between the sanctioned and the unsanctioned and that of folk and fine art, through satire, ironic interpretation of class and nobility. There is a testimony in her composition of: Eastern culture, Arab culture, early colonial federalism and violence against women. Her art has made its way to esteemed collections in various museums private collections in Romania, Italy, Germany, Holland, France, Morocco, Qatar and the USA.
